Centre for Child and Adolescent Health, University of the West of England and University of Bristol

The Centre for Child and Adolescent Health is a joint initiative between the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England, with financial support from North Bristol NHS Trust and United Bristol Healthcare Trust.

The aim of the Centre is to promote the academic study of child health through inter-professional collaboration and its philosophy is to integrate research with teaching and policy development.  

The Centre's priorities are to:

  • Improve understanding of the complex interaction between genetic and environmental factors on child health   
  • Initiate the development and evaluation of new multi-disciplinary initiatives in community child health   
  • Build up the evidence base for clinical activity in child health and to encourage nurses and professionals allied to medicine to undertake independent research
  • Undertake innovative research into the interface areas between paediatrics and child mental health
  • Promote inter-professional learning for postgraduate health workers
