The Children's Health and Exercise Research Centre, University of Exeter

Established in 1987 the Centre is based in the School of Sport and Health Sciences. The Centre, which is housed in a suite of purpose-built laboratories, consists of a group of young researchers working within an experienced support structure and provides arguably the finest facility in the world for the study of the exercising child. The Centre's international eminence in paediatric exercise science was recognized by the award of a Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher Education. 

The Centre is devoted to the study of the exercising child and aims to:

  • Initiate research in paediatric exercise science and disseminate the findings
  • Provide a productive research culture for staff and postgraduate research students 
  • Author books, papers, and other publications 
  • Raise the profile of children's health and well-being nationally and internationally
