Smart Technology Research Centre, Bournemouth University

The Smart Technology Research Centre brings together the University’s existing expertise and synergy in the areas of computational intelligence, cognitive systems, robotics, psychology, computer science and electronics.

The primary aim of the research is the investigation and development of smart systems and devices providing seamless integration of information for, among others, innovative technology driven services, intelligent analysis of information from large corporate databases and reduction of operational costs of industrial processes

A particular strength of the centre lies in the area of computational intelligence with a wide spectrum of collaborative research projects focused on investigations of intelligent and nature inspired learning and adaptive systems. These include:

• Machine learning and hybrid intelligent techniques encompassing data and information fusion 
• Learning and adaptation methods 
• Multiple classifier and prediction systems
• Processing and modelling of uncertainty in pattern recognition 
• Diagnostic analysis
• Decision support systems
