The Centre for IT and Law (CITL) is a pioneering centre dedicated to tackling the new legal challenges associated with the fast-moving world of information technology. It builds on existing strengths in the School of Law and Department of Computer Science.
CITL is supported by an Advisory Group of international businesses and legal experts. The Centre has a large group of well-known investors including Vodafone Group Services Limited, Barclaycard, Herbert Smith, Hewlett Packard Laboratories and the Law Society Charitable Trust. CITL is involved in a wide range of professional activities outside the University, which both draw upon and help to support its research and teaching objectives. The work it has carried out in the area of legal issues affecting the use of Information Communication technologies in Further and Higher Education has attracted international attention and been influential in policy development across the UK sector.
