New HERDA-SW Executive Director Announced

The HERDA-SW Strategy Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Jeffrey Brown as the new Executive Director of the Association. Jeff comes to HERDA-SW with 20 years experience in the Higher Education sector and a long track record of success. As Director of Operations at the University of Kent, Jeff has managed administration and support services, curriculum development, quality assurance, finance and operational arrangements. Before joining Kent in 2001, he held posts as Campus Registrar and Quality Assurance Manager at the University of Greenwich. He also has wide experience of regional projects and has developed strong industry links through his membership of key bodies, including the Institute of Directors and the Thames Gateway Chamber of Commerce, where he recently completed a 3 year term as President. Jeff will be joining us early in 2009 and both the Strategy Board and HERDA-SW staff look forward to working with him as we embark on an exciting phase in our development. "We are delighted to welcome Jeff to HERDA-SW. He comes with a wealth of experience in similar roles in the South East and elsewhere. He will make a vital contribution to the development of the organisation at a time of considerable change for the sector and the region. We look forward to working with him very much," said David Baker, Chair of the HERDA-SW Strategy Board. “This represents a great opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of the SW region,” said Jeff. “I am stimulated and excited by the challenge and looking forward to working with the universities, governmental agencies and commercial businesses that have already achieved so much and are even more ambitious about the future.”
