NHSU Foundation Degree Project
The project aimed to understand the current provision of health & social care FDs and the role of work-based learning (WBL) in their assessment, in the South West (SW). The QAA and K&S frameworks were then be used to consider a common core curriculum, taking into account the current provision, both in terms of level and content. It was then possible to recommend what needed to be common across all FDs in health & social care. A common accreditation approach / framework for WBL across the SW was also developed.
The project took stock of national pilots - especially the NHSU-funded FD pilot at Bournemouth University, developments in work-based learning, and activities in widening participation within the region.
The main project deliverables were:
- the identification of a core curriculum for health & social care in the South West
- a common accreditation approach / framework for work-based learning across the South West
