Description: I have always really enjoyed sport! I was always part of school sports teams and dragged my parents to County Athletics competitions at weekends!
When I graduated from UCP Marjon with a BA (Hons) in Applied Sports Science and Coaching I started working as a Sports Assistant at Paignton Community & Sports College. This involved a number of tasks from washing sports kit to assisting with the organisation of school sport competitions. I took on extra volunteering roles such as being a Sports Team Manager for a number of the (what was called then) ‘Devon Youth Games’ and coaching in the evenings and weekends.
At the interview for this job one of the interviewees asked what I saw myself doing in 5 years from then and I remember answering “I’d like to be in a job where I encourage young people to get involved with sport”. Low and behold 3 years later I am working for RELAYS inspiring young people and communities through a programme linked with London 2012!
