Andy is currently Deputy Head of Department of Sport and Exercise and the Director of Sport for the University of Gloucestershire. He joined the University in 1996 after a career in sports development in London, and has taught on courses in leisure, sport, sociology and management at all levels of provision.

Andy also has a background in research, and was a member of the University’s successful Leisure and Sport Research Unit (LSRU) where he developed a specialism in youth and community football. Since then Andy has been a joint author of a book in this area, has conducted a number of research projects for The Football Association and, in 2009, and was the subject advisor on The FA’s Respect Parent Module.
Since being awarded a Teaching Fellowship at the University in 2008, Andy has been helping to develop the Department’s unique programme of community engagement activities, which include Onside, the community football project, the Physical Activity and Sport Enterprise as well as RELAYS.
His current role is focused on developing these community links and enhancing the University’s support for performance sport. Blue and Blue Sport, launched in 2010, aims to maximise the potential of our athletes in BUCS competition and develop partnerships that raise the standards of sporting excellence across Gloucestershire.
